I love it when my daughter is busy making a mess. Yes, you read it right! The knowledge they gain when they are allowed to make a mess is immense.
She learnt to name the fruits and veggies by exploring the fridge and while grocery shopping. I don’t sit and teach with flash card and stuff usually. Children learn more and know more when they are allowed to explore the world by themselves.
Don’t stop them when they try to learn things by themselves.Yes, she squeezed few strawberries, tried to drain the milk can, she even threw all the bread loafs from the pack. I didn’t want to stop her because she was so engrossed and was having so much fun. Most importantly, she learnt to name few veggies, fruits without any effort and while having fun. This also helps in the development of their fine motor skills.
Another thing what toddlers do when they are allowed to make a mess is, they learn to count. My daughter started to count at a very early age. She used to take out all the spoons from the storage drawer and spread them on the floor and count.
They are so many other skills and techniques they learn by themselves when we don’t stop them making messes.
Mommies, cleaning your home after the exploration part is definitely difficult but if they are having fun, why stop it?
